MUNICIPAL COMMISSION ORDINARY ELECTIONS 1949
This first Municipal Commission (later renamed City Council) elections saw six wards with three seats each, and the remaining 27 seats appointed by the British authorities. Other than PP, a new political party - LP - made its debut into the fray. Like the Legislative Council elections, voting was not compulsory and voters had to register themselves.
