People's Alternative Party
Founded: 16 September 2014
Founded by former DAP veteran Zulkifli Mohd Noor who resigned for the reason that his former party had become more "anti-Malay", PAP positions itself as non-aligned and focuses more on DAP than BN. Before receiving official approval, which finally came on 30 October 2015, it regularly protested against the delay for its registration. In 2016, PAP became an inaugural component of Gabungan Rakyat Saksama (Sabah-Sarawak-Malaya People's Coalition) along with several East Malaysian local opposition parties. Before the 2018 Malaysia General Election, most of its founders resigned after secretary G. Asoghan hijacked the party. He became president and brought in mostly ethnic Indian members to fill the vacated posts. In that election, PAP partnered with the PAS-led Gagasan Sejahtera (Harmony Concept) in Penang.
