LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL BY-ELECTION 1948

Singapore's first by-election, held shortly after the first General Election in the same year, was triggered by the death of independent Legislative Councillor S. C. Goho, who had passed away in Calcutta. PP nominated an unsuccessful independent candidate in the last GE. He faced two independents, one of them who had turned up unexpectedly at the final moment.
