PARLIAMENTARY BY-ELECTIONS 1966 (III)
This was the year's third consecutive by-elections after yet another spate of resignations by BS MPs. This time, Chia Thye Poh (Jurong) - who was later to be detained under the Internal Security Act (ISA) for 22 years and became Singapore's longest and the world's second longest serving political prisoner - and Lee Tee Tong (Bukit Timah), quit their Parliamentary seats. In addition, PAP MP Dr Fong Kim Heng resigned as MP due to poor health. Once again, all vacated seats conceded walkovers and went to PAP.
